The idea

Software shouldn't be rented, hidden or taken away.

Most software is built to keep you, and to keep your attention, your data and your subscription. Aviary is the opposite, a place where applications answer to the person using them.

You own your apps

Every version you install stays on your device until you delete it. Updates are your choice, never forced, and you can stay on the version you like.

You own your data

Applications run on your machine and keep your data there. A service is only used when a feature needs one, and it never quietly replaces what you hold.

You shape what you use

Ask for a feature, vote on what matters, or report a problem. Fixes reach the person who reported them first, and nothing changes for others without a decision.

How it works

One application, the whole lifecycle.

From finding an app to fixing it, everything happens in one place that you control. Parts of this are in preview today and parts are still being built, and the roadmap says which.

    Browse a catalogue of applications, or describe what you need and see what already exists before anything gets built again.

    Install

    One download manages every app. Each app gets its own launcher, with signed updates, integrity checks and offline launch.

    Keep

    Choose Latest, Stable or a pinned version. Roll back any time. Back up and move to a new machine without asking permission.

    Shape

    Request features, add plugins, or commission a variant. Reuse what is already verified instead of starting from nothing.
